Death of Well-known Pioneer Lady
Mrs. Anastacia Susavilla, a pioneer woman of Sausalito, passed away Wednesday morning, February 10th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Silva, in South Sausalito. Deceased had reached the age of 88 years. She was born in Chili and came to California with her husband in 1849. They resided in San Francisco until 1854, when they moved to Sausalito. Her husband, who died about 18 years ago, was keeper of Lime Point station for 37 years. For many years she followed the profession of nurse. Old settlers speak of her as a kind and charitable woman, who never refused to respond to a call, no matter whether it was day or night, rain or shine, or for lack of pecuniary benefit.
Deceased leaves four grown up children. They are: Mrs. John Silva, Mrs. R. Garcia and J. S. and Antonio Susavilla. The funeral will take place at 10 o’clock today from Saint Mary’s Church. Interment, Sausalito Cemetery.
