Joseph Pereira Buried

One of the largest funerals ever held on a weekday took place last Monday when all that was mortal of Joseph Pereira was laid to rest in Fernwood Cemetery. Nearly a hundred carriages followed the remains. Rev. Father Valentine paid a glowing tribute to the young man. A solemn requiem mass was said for the repose of his soul. Twelve pieces of Richardson Band preceded the hearse which was drawn by four snow white horses. The grave was completely covered by handsome floral offerings.

The pall bearers were Otto Anderson and Adam Marshall, Jr., Foresters of America; Manuel Santos and George Thomas, Native Sons; Joe Sousa and John Antone, I. D. E S. and Joe Dias Manuel Silva.
