Deaths

Mrs. Eliza Cochrane, the first white woman to live in Sausalito, died there Tuesday, aged 72. Mrs. Cochrane was the daughter of Captain Storry, and came to Sausalito in 1849. She lived continuously in the same house since then.

COCHRANE – In Sausalito, January 20, 1903, Mrs. Eliza M. Cochrane, dearly beloved wife of James H. Cochrane, mother of John H., Charles, Albert, and Tillie Cochran (sic), daughter of L. Storry and sister of Mrs. M. Penuber, a native of Perch (sic), Australia, aged 62 years and 8 months.

The Marin County Undertaker’s records add that she died of acute nephritis and was buried on January 23rd at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
