A Worthy Woman Passes Away

Mrs. Mary Broderick, wife of our late business man, John Broderick, answered the last summons on Monday. Mrs. Broderick has been in ill health for some time and her death was not unexpected by her children and intimate friends. Several months ago they realized that she was liable to be called away at any time.

Her funeral took place Wednesday morning. A solemn high requeim mass was said by the Rev. Father Valentini at St. Mary's Catholic church. The pallbearers were six young men who are employed in the Broderick grocery stores. Many attended the services at the church and followed the remains to the grave at Fernwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Broderick was born in Ireland seventy-five years ago, and came across the Atlantic in the same steamer with Michael Murray, who passed away in San Rafael on Christmas Day. She was one of the pioneer women of this county, settling here nearly fifty years ago. She was noted for her sterling qualities and enjoyed the respect and esteem of all who knew her. She leaves three sons, Thomas C., Edward and Hugh Broderick and three daughters, Mrs. Hugh Jones, Mrs. Nellie Holmes and Mrs. C. O'Keefe to mourn her death.
