Edith Luella Fennessy
A memorial service for Edith Luella Fennessy of Novato will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at her home. Mrs. Fennessy died Saturday, Feb. 4, 1989, at Novato Community Hospital. She was 82.
Mrs. Fennessy was a native of Dorchester, Mass., and had lived in Novato the past 13 years.
She was a graduate of Emerson College in Boston. Mrs. Fennessy taught school for 47 years. She taught school first in Scituate, Mass., which was founded by her ancestor, the Rev. John Lothrop, and later in Tucson, Ariz.
Mrs. Fennessy was a descendant of the Mayflower Pilgrims and a member of the Mayflower Society and Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was an avid collector of antique dolls and an expert needleworker.
Her husband, Walter Fennessy, died in 1983.
Mrs. Fennessy is survived by a son, James Fennessy of Novato; a daughter, Diane Fennessy of Petaluma; and a sister, Mary McDevitt of Andover, Mass.
The Neptune Society is handling arrangements.
The family prefers donations to the Humane Society.
