Major Cobb Passes Away.
Death claimed Major Harry A. Cobb, one of our oldest residents who was greatly esteemed by all, early last Saturday morning. On Monday the funeral took place. A solemn requiem high mass was said in St. Mary's Church and the remains were carried to their last resting place in Fernwood Cemetery by his old friends, John Hannon, Wm. McMillan, Mayor Jacques Thomas, Francis Avery, J. B. Baraty, and Frank Metzler.
Major Cobb was born in Kentucky in 1853 and came to Sausalito when a very young man. For years he was purser and collector on the old ferry between here and San Francisco. He leaves a daughter, Miss Cobb, and two sisters, Mrs. J. W. Harrison and Mrs. E. J. Jones. He was an unsuccessful Democratic candidate for Assessor of this county several years ago. Lately he has been connected with the Sausalito Land & Ferry Company and also was school census marshal for this district. While taking the census several days ago he was stricken with paralysis.
