Kelpe Found Dead

Charles Kelpe, the old tailor with a shop adjoining the Thomas tonsorial parlors in Sausalito, was found dead on his bed in the rear of the shop on Wednesday noon by B. I. Temple and Harry J. Thomas who entered from the rear. Kelpe was complaining about having a severe cold the evening previous and as his shop was closed his friends, fearing he needed assistance, entered from the rear and found him sting on the bed partly dressed. Coroner Sawyer took charge of the remains.

Mr. Kelpe was born in Germany 74 years ago and came to America when young serving with honor through the civil war. He came to California 34 years ago and was a member of the George H. Thomas Post, G.A.R. He came to Sausalito about 4 years ago and was highly esteemed by all. Although frequently urged by his son-in-law, Paul Brunotte of Larkspur, to retire or make his home with them, he persisted in following his business.
