Everett E. Bucknum, local businessman
Everett E. Bucknum, a member of a pioneer Marin family and a local businessman who traveled the world after his retirement, died today at a local hospital. He was 85.
Bucknum was born in Oregon but spent nearly all his life in San Rafael, residing at 6 Capri Court. His grandfather was an early Marin resident.
Bucknum operated several businesses, including a motel, until his retirement in 1956.
He and his wife, Rowena, then traveled extensively. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary three years ago.
In addition to his wife, of the home address, Bucknum is survived by a son, Jack, of Sleepy Hollow, a vice president of the Bank of Marin; a daughter, Jean O’Pizzi of Palm Springs; a brother, Delbert Bucknum of Portland, Ore., and three grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael. The family prefers donations to Christ the Victor Lutheran Church, Fairfax, the Marin County Heart Association or a favorite charity.
