Death of a Very Estimable Young Man

Stewart Mackenzie of San Rafael, died at St. Luke’s hospital in San Francisco last Monday. Deceased was a brother of Wm. Mackenzie, who was for a long time foreman of the News office, also brother of Malcolm Mackenzie, who is the agent for the Railroad at San Rafael. The deceased went to the Philippines with the California Volunteers and his death, which was caused by bronchial trouble, was contracted while serving his country on the Islands. He was a very exemplary young man and many are the acts related of his kindness and devotion to the afflicted while serving as a member of the hospital corps. He was 28 years of age and a native of Australia. He leaves a mother, three brothers and a sister. A devoted son, a loving brother and a good citizen has gone to his reward.
