Note Trainer Dies Suddenly
Suddenly stricken by pneumonia, D. F. (“Molly”) McDonnell, a few years ago one of the best known trainers of boxers on the Pacific Coast, was removed last night from his home at the junction of the Redwood highway and the Lucas Valley road to Ross General Hospital, where he died this morning. McDonnell, who was 56 years of age, has conducted a grocery store and soft drink parlor on the highway for the past seven years.
Among other well known fighters conditioned by McDonnell during his years as a trainer were Joe Gans, Willie Ritchie and Sam Berger. Many other glove artists of lesser fame were also trained by him. Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been completed.
