Aged Man Killed in Plunge From Bridge
Joseph M. Mooney, 70 years of age, who for some time past has been an inmate of the Marin county hospital, was found dead on Sunday morning in the bed of a creek near the county farm. Mooney apparently fell from a bridge over the creek and, striking his head, fractured his skull. It is believed that the aged man lost his balance while sitting on the parapet of the bridge.
Mooney, who was a retired police officer, left the county farm on Saturday afternoon, and when he did not return a search was made for him, resulting in the discovery of his death. The body was removed to the morgue in San Rafael by Coroner J. Ray Keaton. The deceased leaves a wife, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Mooney. Funeral services, to be held at 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Keaton & Dusel, will be conducted by the Rev. Ernest Bradley.
