Wm. Knott, a highly respected resident of San Rafael and for over sixty years a resident of California, died at the residence of his stepson, John B. Sutton, on Monday at the ripe age of 80 years. He was a native of England, came to this country when 14 years old and for many years was actively engaged in mining enterprises in this State, principally in Plumas county. He was highly respected by all, was a man of sterling character, benevolent and always ready to assist the needy and afflicted.
