Marin County on Wednesday lost its oldest native daughter, when Mrs. Augustina Wood, who was born in San Rafael 82 years ago, was called by death. Mrs. Wood had spent practically all of her life in this city, and her passing will be mourned by a host of friends.
Mrs. Wood was the widow of the late George Wood and the daughter of the late John and Juanna Sotello, who were among the first settlers in the northbay district. She is survived by 3 children, Mrs. Mary Casting, Mrs. Juanita West and Mrs. Julia Berthold, and also leaves a brother, John Sotello. The latter is critically ill, and he has been kept in ignorance of the death of his sister.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. at St. Raphael's Church, where a requiem mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, under the direction of Keaton & Dusel.
