Woodrow B. Peppers
Novato resident

Woodrow “Woody” B. Peppers, a 25-year resident of Novato, died Tuesday, April 28, 1992, at Kaiser Hospital. He was 77.

Mr. Peppers, who was born in Oklahoma, attended Panola High School and later attended college in Wilberton, Okla.

He worked for the U. S. Department of Interior, National Parks Service in Mancos, Colo., where he met Bernice Wilson, whom he married in 1941.

Mr. Peppers joined the Army in June 1942 and served in the Third Army under Gen. George Patton. During World War II he was transferred throughout Europe.

In late 9146 he was discharged from the Army and rejoined the Park Service. For 20 years he worked at parks across the country, including the Grand Canyon in Arizona and Mesa Verde in Colorado.

In 1966 he was transferred to San Francisco, where he worked until his retirement in 1980.

After 45 years of government service, Mr. Peppers worked as a crossing guard at San Ramon Elementary School for more than 10 years.

On July 14, 1991, Mr. and Mrs. Peppers celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

In addition to his wife, Bernice Peppers, he is survived by a daughter, Sandra Cole; two sons, Bryan and Gary Peppers; a sister, Jewell Wolcott; a brother, James Peppers; and a granddaughter.

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Valley Memorial Park in Novato.
