Wm. M. Latham Former Town Trustee, Dies

William M. Latham, of the Barber Tract, one of our former Town Trustees, passed away on Tuesday afternoon of this week, after a lingering illness. Mr. Latham had a stroke several years ago and since then he has been gradually growing weaker. He was up and around the house until last week, when he had to take to his bed.

Besides his widow Mrs. Josephine Latham, he leaves two sons by a former marriage, Frank and Bela, of New York. He was related by marriage to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Newell, Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Van Meter of the Barber Tract, Henry Patterson of Novato, and Mrs. E. Sansome, of San Rafael, formerly of San Anselmo. He was also a nephew by marriage to Mrs. F. B. Latham, one of the oldest residents of this town.

Mr. Latham was 64 years of age. He came to California about 16 years ago from New York, after retiring from business there. He was always keenly interested in municipal and other public affairs and he always kept himself well posted on public matters.

Mrs. Latham had the sincere sympathy of the community in her sad bereavement. The town flag has been carried at half mast in memory of the deceased. The funeral took place on Thursday morning at 10 o’clock.
