Sydney S. Horen
A graveside service for Sydney S. Horen, a retired sales representative for 20th Century Fox films, was held this morning at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
Horen, 83, of San Rafael, died Sunday at a local hospital after an illness.
Horen had worked for the film company in Europe and South American for 25 years.
He was an Army artillery officer during World War I and served in France and Germany. He had received a commendation from the Spanish government for charitable work and a commendation from Nelson A. Rockefeller in 1946 for his wartime services in Argentina during World War II.
Horen was a member of the American Legion, Masons and Rotary International.
He was a native of France who was reared in Boston and New York.
Surviving are two sons, Michael L. Horen of Lancaster, S.C. and W. Peter Horen of San Anselmo, and five grandchildren.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind, San Rafael.
