Good Citizen Gone to Rest
The death of Pierre Gaston Domergue occurred at the German Hospital in San Francisco on March 1. He was in poor health for some time though not dangerously sick and an operation which was found necessary resulted fatally. Domergue has been a well known resident in lower Marin county for over 40 years and few sportsmen were better known than he. When the country around Mt. Tamalpais teemed with deer and even bear were plentiful, he was a constant and successful hunter there. When Victor's, the present Manzanita, was a rendezvous for fishermen and hunters, Domergue was a constant patron there. After Victor's death some 25 years ago Domergue assumed the proprietorship of the place and by his genial manner and capacity as a caterer made it highly successful. He afterwards became the able proprietor of Rety's famous restaurant In North Sausalito. When the Alaska fever broke out Mr. Domergue spent several years in business in Nome but returned to Seattle and finally to Sausalito. He possessed a fair and generous temperament which won him a host of friends who sincerely regret his death. He leaves a widow Marie Domergue, and two sons Gaston and Jack Domergue, to mourn his death. He was a native of France and aged 72 years, 4 months and 11 days at time of death. The burial took place privately and he was buried in the family plot in Fernwood Cemetery.
