Young Woman Killed by Hit-Run Auto
Mrs. Lorna Berry, 23-year-old San Francisco night club photographer, was killed by a hit-run automobile early Monday morning while crawling on her hands and knees along the Greenbrae-Kentfield road, her husband, George, reported to police.
With a friend, William Pilkington, 23, the Berry’s were attempting to start their stalled automobile by pushing, Berry reported. Suddenly the men missed Mrs. Berry and saw her about 40 feet away in the light of an oncoming car which slowed down, then sped away. By the time they reached the young woman she was dead.
Both men, who had been drinking, were released after extensive questioning, Undersheriff Joseph Williams said.
