Stricken by apoplexy as he was sitting on the porch of his home on Latham Street, John MacDonald, 75, a resident of San Rafael for 42 years, died within 10 minutes Saturday evening. He had not been ill previously and had eaten a hearty dinner a short time before he was stricken.
MacDonald, who was a member of the Carpenter's Union of San Rafael, was active in affairs of the First Presbyterian Church of which he had been a member for more than 40 years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Julia Kaher MacDonald, 2 daughters; Mrs. J.L. Holland, Jr., and Mrs. D.R. Fradenberg, both of San Francisco, and one grandson, John Lawrence Holland.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at the parlors of Keaton & Dusel. Dr. Lynn Townsend White of the faculty of the San Francisco Theological Seminary and formerly pastor of the Presbyterian Church here officiated at the ceremony.
