Edward John Allen
Retired lineman

Services are today for Edward John Allen of Novato, who died Monday, Sept. 27, 1993, at t he University of California Medical Center in San Francisco after a long illness. He was 78.

A native of Milan, Mich., who also lived in Ann Arbor, Mich., Mr. Allen was an overhead lineman for 38 years with Detroit Edison.

The Allens moved to California in 1973. Mr. Allen volunteered much of his time to the Whistlestop Program in San Rafael, doing Medicare paperwork. He also was a volunteer with the Buck Center for Research in Aging.

He enjoyed helping raise his granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Allen; his son, Richard Allen; and one granddaughter.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today at Community Congregational Church of Tiburon.
