Butcher L. J. Thomas Dies In Hospital

Lawrence J. Thomas, 51, resident of San Rafael for the last 11 years, died yesterday at a local hospital following a long illness.

He was a member of the Butcher’s Union Local No. 115 and was well known throughout the county, having worked in various shops in this capacity. He was also a member of San Rafael Lodge No. 1108 B.P.O.E.

He leaves his wife Evaline A. Thomas, a daughter Mrs. Raymond Cerutti, a granddaughter Linda Rae Cerutti, all of San Rafael; three brothers, Fred, Ray and Wally Thomas of Vancouver, Washington; and a brother, Elise Thomas of Grayland, Washington. A former resident of Eureka, he was president of the butcher’s union of that city. He was a native of Washington.

Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Monday from the harry M. Williams mortuary, San Rafael. A Mass of Requiem will be said at St. Raphael’s church from 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary followed by memorial services by San Rafael Lodge No. 1108 B.P.O.E.
