John Butler, Retired NWP Employee Succumbs At 89
John G. Butler of San Rafael, 89-year-old retired employee of Northwestern Pacific railroad, died in a San Francisco hospital yesterday after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held 9:15 a.m. tomorrow from Keaton’s mortuary, San Rafael, thence to St. Raphael’s church. Rosary services will be recited 8 o’clock tonight at Keaton’s chapel.
Butler was the husband of Ellen W. Butler; father of Francis P. Butler of San Rafael, William P. Butler of Corte Madera, Mrs. T. Carson O’Connell of San Rafael, and Dr. Edmund Butler of San Francisco.
A native of Iowa, he worked for several years with railroad companies and then came to California and Marin in 1895. After living in Tiburon, he moved in 1902 to San Rafael. About 1930 he retired from the Northwestern Pacific and made his home at 523 Fifth avenue.
