Funeral services for John Grady, 23, golf professional, who was fatally burned early Monday morning at his home at 123 B Street, San Rafael, were held at St. Raphael's Church Wednesday. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

James J. Grady, father of the young man, was awakened by the smell of smoke. Rushing into his son's room, he found the boy's bed enveloped in flames. His son was unconscious, and the father dragged him from bed and sent him to the Cottage Hospital. He was dead upon arrival. The fire department subdued the fire with little loss otherwise. It is believed that the bed clothing was ignited with a cigarette.

Grady was a professional at the Meadow Club of Tamalpais. He had been previously at the Marin Golf and Country Club in a similar capacity. He was a graduate of the San Rafael High School, where he rated high in athletics.
