Wm. Collins Dies After Short Illness

William H. Collins, 49, son of one of San Rafael’s pioneer families, died yesterday at a local hospital after a short illness. He was the son of the late Jeremiah and Rose Collins who came to San Rafael more than 60 years ago, and lived many years at 220 D street.

Collins lived at 204 Greenfield avenue in San Rafael and recently moved to San Francisco. He was a hardware salesman for a San Francisco firm.

His father had been in the feed and grain business in San Rafael before his death in 1915, and he was the step-son of John T. Smith, 1141 Mission street.

Surviving are four brothers, George S. Collins, 331 Laurel place, San Rafael; Robert J. and Stephen H. Collins of San Francisco; and Thomas J. Collins of Honolulu.

Friends are invited to attend funeral services at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Keaton’s mortuary in San Rafael. At 9:30 a.m. a Requiem High Mass will be offered at St. Raphael’s church, and burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the mortuary.
