Librarian Phyllis Zale dies
Phyllis June Zale of San Rafael, a reference librarian for the Marin County Library system died Monday, Aug. 31, 1987, at Marin General Hospital after a long illness.
She was 57.
Mrs. Zale was a native of New York.
She graduated from Columbia University in New York.
Mrs. Zale had lived in San Rafael for 16 years.
Since 1973, she had worked for the Novato branch of the Marin County Library as a reference librarian.
She was a member of the American Library Association, the California Library Association, the Columbia University Alumni Association, the Marin Friends of the Library and Madassah, a Jewish women’s charitable organization.
Survivors are her husband, Irving Zale of San Rafael; a daughter, Beverly Zale, and a son, Jonathan Zale, also of San Rafael; her mother, Ethel Kellerman of New York; and a brother, Larry Kellerman of New York.
A memorial service will be at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at Congregation Rodef Sholom in San Rafael.
Burial will be at the Mount Moriah Cemetery in Fairview, N.J.
