Charles W. Howard Dies in Yosemite Valley

Charles W. Howard, who last Saturday died at Yosemite Valley 8 hours after his wife, Dorothy Howard, and passed away at the same place, is well known in this city where he was born and resided for many years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Howard and brother of Mrs. Julia Veroda and Mrs. Emahito Horst.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard left early last Thursday in company with two friends, for a belated honeymoon trip to Yosemite. On the way in, Mrs. Howard developed dilation of the heart due to altitude and upon reaching the floor of the valley died shortly after retiring at 10 p.m. Her husband, grieved by the sudden death of his wife, declared that he would kill himself, but his companion, A. B. Rowland, says that no such attempt was made to his knowledge, but that the man died from a broken heart.

He was 35 years of age and sales manager of a wholesale drug house in San Francisco.
