EMIL THEIS
Emil M. Theis, 87, of 678 Orange Avenue, Novato, a retired farmer, died yesterday in a local hospital after long illness.
He was born May 21, 1875, in Belgium, and was brought to the United States by parents when he was 2 years old. He farmed at Wathina, Kan., until he moved to Novato two and one-half years ago to make his home with a daughter, Mrs. Joseph L. Sittenaur.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Sittenaur, Mrs. Marie Schneider of Wathima (sic); Mrs. Clara Ireland of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Betty Sittenaur of Atchison, Kan., and Mrs. Katherine Pitt of Castro Valley, Alameda County; five sons, Al Theis of Burbank, Charles of Wathina, Lawrence and Adelbert of Folsom, Sacramento County, and Bernard of Danville, Contra Costa County; 43 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, Novato. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow at Redwood Chapel Funeral Home, Novato.
