Paul H. Hughes
Environmental planner
A memorial celebration is pending for Paul Heron Hughes. He died Nov. 9 at home in Mill Valley at 58. He was born in Oregon and moved to Marin County in 1946.
A senior environmental planner for the state, he worked for Caltrans for 35 years. He was a musician and played bass while attending Stanford University.
He was a board member of the Marin ACLU.
He is survived by a sister, Nancy Hughes of San Rafael; a daughter the Rev. Jolie Hughes of New Hampshire and a son, David T. Hughes of Santa Cruz. He is also survived by an ex-wife, Grace Hughes of Larkspur, and a companion, Phyllis Williams, of Mill Valley.
The family would prefer donations to the ACLU Foundation, Hospice of Marin or a favorite charity.
