HOWARD HALE

Private service was held yesterday at Keaton’s Mortuary for Howard L. Hale, of San Rafael, who died Wednesday at a local hospital.

Hale, 61, lived at 555 Canal Street. He had been a Marin County resident for 16 years; he was born in Oakland.

For about 20 years Hale was a railroad freight trafficker. He was also a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, No. 1108 of San Rafael.

Hale is survived by his wife, Alva, a daughter, Marcia Ellis of Oakland, and two grandsons, Steven and John.
