W. D. MERCHANT
Graveside services for William D. Merchant, 65, of Sonoma, father of Robert F. Merchant of San Rafael, were held Wednesday at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
Merchant died Tuesday in a Sonoma hospital after a long illness. He was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and came to the United States shortly after World War I. He was employed by Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. for 37 years, retiring two years ago.
Survivors are his wife, Nellie, of Sonoma; sons, William D. Merchant Jr. of Santa Clara and Robert E. Merchant, and five grandchildren.
