MORRIS, Thomas Tate -- Passed away suddenly at his home in Walnut Creek on July 20, 2001. Born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on July 29, 1929 to Florence and George Morris, Tom attended Berkeley High School and University of California at Berkeley. Among his life's many achievements was an over 30 year career with American President Lines followed by a number of years as a maritime consultant and expert witness where he was greatly valued for his vast knowledge. He leaves behind his loving wife of 22 years, Marilyn; son Thomas Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; daughters Leslie Boyd and Stephanie Britton of Walnut Creek; son Douglas of Glen Ellyn, IL; daughter Elizabeth Wittwer of Crystal Lake, IL; son Alex of Las Vegas, NV; and son Michael Walters of Sacramento. He is predeceased by his brother Richard Morris of Carson City, NV. He is survived by his twin sister Nancy Petersen of Laguna Beach; sister Suzanne Caffey of Laguna Beach; brother James of San Rafael; and his sister Margaret of Inverness. He is survived by 12 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Also left grieving are the Tate and Fairbanks families . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinson's Research, would be appreciated. A service will be held in the near future.
