Gloria Marie Homen (Dallara) Harder

Passed away peacefully in her sleep in San Pablo, California on June 5, 2002 at 71 years of age. She is the dearly beloved mother of Donna (Bruce) DeRosier of Helena, Montana, Richard E. Dallara (deceased), Debbie (Mark) Emery of Glen Ellen, Daniel Dallara of Sonoma, Nancy (Nat) Davis of El Sobrante, Christine (Ken) Janson of Sonoma, Ed Dallara, Jr. of Novato and Matthew (Marie) Dallara of Novato. She is also survived by her brothers Manuel (Sandy) Homen of Tucson, Arizona and Ed (Mary) Schimberg, Jr. of Arkansas. Survived also by her cherished grandchildren Sharleen DeRosier, Jonnie Diane DeRosier, Alura (Stephen) Barsun, Sarah Emery, Joshua Davis, Danny Dallara II, Charlotte Dallara, Cameron Janson, and Kiana Janson. Gloria was preceded in death by her brother Al Homen, her mother and stepfather Aurora and Ed Schimberg, her son Richard, and her father Manuel Rodrigues Homen. Gloria was a very loving and generous mother to her eight children, nine grandchildren, countless nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers, friends and loved ones. Gloria was very proud of her large family and took special care to participate in all of their important life celebrations with unselfish love. Born in San Jose, Gloria grew up in Petaluma and San Rafael and spent much time at her father's dairy. She graduated from St. Vincent's High School in 1948 and married Ed Dallara that fall. In 1958, they relocated to Sonoma where Gloria became an active member of the St. Francis Solano Mother's Club in Sonoma, California. Gloria and Ed divorced in 1981 and she relocated to the Bay Area in the late 1980s. Most recently, Gloria worked for the City of Richmond as an Office Specialist where she made numerous friends. Seeking out her roots, she and her daughter Donna traveled to the Azores Islands and met her Portuguese cousins for the first time in 2001. Following this trip overseas, she experienced a renewed interest in her Portuguese heritage, attending Bay Area Portuguese fiestas. She is currently a member of the New Life Christian Center in El Sobrante, California, a reflection of her strong faith in God. Family and friends are invited to attend Services at Duggan's Mission Chapel, 525 West Napa Street, Sonoma, California. A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 12th from Noon to 9:00 p.m. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, June 13th at 2:00 p.m. followed by a short Graveside Service at Valley Cemetery in Sonoma, California. Our loving mother has always been the heart of our family's happiness. She will be missed dearly. May she find eternal peace and happiness, which she so richly deserves, with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.
