WILLIAM B. LEDBETTER
Memorial service for Col. William B. Ledbetter of Tiburon will be at 3 p.m. today at the Chapel of the Presidio of San Francisco.
Ledbetter, a retired Army surgeon, died Sunday in a San Francisco hospital after a long illness. He was 56.
He was a native of Texas. He joined the Army in 1942. He served in Europe during World War II, Korea and Vietnam, and was at other times stationed in Hawaii and Washington D.C.
He had been stationed in the surgeon’s office at the Presidio prior to his retirement March 26 of this year. He had made his home in Tiburon for the past three years.
He was a member of the Retired Officers’ Association and the Association of Military Surgeons.
He is survived by his wife, Doris E. Ledbetter of Tiburon; a son, William B. Ledbetter Jr. of Commerce, Tex., a daughter, Ann Ledbetter of Leavenworth, Kan., his mother, Tennie Ledbetter, and a brother, Paul H. Ledbetter, both of Richardson, Tex.
