ALAN RUOFF
Lumber broker Alan H. Ruoff Sr., formerly of San Rafael, died yesterday at his Vallejo home, 621A Florida Street, after a short illness. He was 60.
Ruoff had made his home at Bayside Acres in San Rafael for 40 years before he moved to Vallejo nine months ago. He was a native of Plymouth, Amador County.
He had been in the lumber business for more than 30 years. From 1940 until 1952 he had owned and operated a sawmill in Lagunitas. Previous to 1940 he had spent many years as a logger throughout northern California. Since 1952 he had been in the brokerage end of the business.
He was a member of Marin Lodge 191, Free and Accepted Masons.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; one son, Alan H. Ruoff Jr. of Santa Venetia; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel King of Oakland and Mrs. Maxine Peters of Castro Valley, Alameda County; two brothers, Jack Ruoff of San Rafael and Loel Ruoff of Modesto; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Harry M. Williams Mortuary, San Rafael, under auspices of Marin Lodge 191, F&AM. Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.

A Death Notice in the same paper mentions his late son, Jack Ruoff, and his late sister, Mrs. Winifred Freese, and his grandchildren, Deanne and Alan Ruoff. He was survived by his daughter-in-law, Violet Ruoff.
