ELIZABETH VREELAND

Funeral for Elizabeth W. Vreeland, longtime Mill Valley resident, was held today in Vallejo.

Mrs. Vreeland died Friday in a local hospital after a long illness. She was 77.

Mrs. Vreeland, a native of India where her father was a missionary, had lived in Mill Valley the past 30 years. She resided at 36 McGee Avenue.

She was the wife of the late Frederick K. Vreeland, a Mill Valley research engineer and inventor of machines ranging from the high speed frequency oscillator to the Vreeland spectroscope, a device for analyzing minerals.

Mrs. Vreeland was an accomplished portrait painter, for many years sketching subjects from a booth at the Village Fair in Sausalito.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Snell of San Rafael, and three sons, Robert of San Francisco, Peter of Stockton and Fredric of Palo Alto.

Burial will be on Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo.
