Clare Roberta (Hittle) Hulbert

Passed away on Friday, March 11th, 2005 in Greenbrae, CA. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Jack W. Hulbert of San Rafael, CA, her two daughters, Jaclyn (Allen) Coffin, of Windsor, CA and Jayne Hulbert, of Fairfax, CA, her niece, Nancy Louise Hittle, and numerous grand and great-nieces and nephews.

Clare was born on September 4th, 1918 in Oakland, CA to William G. and Mary R. (Trail) Hittle. Clare was a graduate from Roosevelt High School and also graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from San Francisco State University in 1940. Clare met Jack while commuting on the ferry from Oakland to San Francisco. With a love of music and a desire to challenge young minds, she began her teaching career in Millbrae, CA and retired from the Arlington County, VA schools in 1975. Clare taught choral music and speech in junior and senior high schools in Arlington. Clare spent her retirement years traveling extensively with Jack, playing bridge, and enjoying good times with her family and many friends. She was a past President of the Marin County Retired Officers Wives Club, a member of the American Association of University Women, and the Arlington County Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother. No services will be held. Inurnment at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, CA will be private. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to your favorite charity.
