EDWIN M. JORDAN DIES AT WHEEL
Edwin M. Jordan, 73, a 40-year resident of San Anselmo, died of an apparent heart attack last night after collapsing at the wheel of his car, which he had parked in front of a business establishment at 1908 Fourth street, San Rafael.
His wife, Etta, was with him when he was stricken about 9:30 p.m. He was taken by United Ambulance to Marin General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The couple had been at the San Rafael Elks Club earlier in the evening. They decided to return to their home at 40 Sequoia drive, San Anselmo, after Jordan complained of feeling ill.
As they were preceding west on Fourth street, he started gasping for breath and pulled off the road. Moments later, he slumped over the wheel unconscious.
Jordan retired in January of last year as credit manager of H. Moffat and Co., San Francisco wholesale meat firm. He had been employed by the company 39 years.
Born in San Francisco, Jordan was a member of the San Francisco Credit Assn., Teamsters Union Local 856, San Francisco, and the Marin County Fuchsia Society. He was an honorary member of the San Anselmo Police Department.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Millie Maloney of Menlo Park; a brother, William T. of Oakland, and a stepson, George A. Frazer of San Francisco.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Harry M. Williams Mortuary, San Rafael.

According to the CA Death Index, his middle name was Marshall; he was born Oct. 22, 1884, and his mother’s name was Hawkyard.
