In Loving Memory of LOIS IMELDA (WOLFF) RASMUSSEN, March 23, 1922 ~ August 9, 2002

Lois Rasmussen was born in Cupertino, California on March 23, 1922 to Debra Agnes (Jones) Wolff, a homemaker, and William Alvard Wolff, an orchardist. Lois passed away on August 9, 2002 following complications after cardiac valve replacement surgery. She was the fifth child in a family of six children. The family moved to San Francisco when she was six months old. Lois graduated from Mission High School in 1940. She was active in sports in high school and continued her athleticism as a member of the San Francisco Volleyball Team that captured the California Championship at the World's Fair at Treasure Island two consecutive years. Lois was also a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West. She served as their president and was a participant of that organization's award winning Drill Team. After working for Simplicity Pattern Company, Lois attended the IBM School of Electrical Accounting and later worked for the Simmons Mattress Company in the accounting department. Lois did the accounting for her family's business that specialized in remodeling vintage homes in San Francisco. Lois met the love of her life, Ove Rasmussen, while attending a dance at the Italian-American Club. After the dance she told her mother, "I met the man I am going to marry!" The couple raised two children and experienced 43 fun-filled years residing and entertaining on Christmas Tree Hill in Corte Madera, California. Lois was a member of the Larkspur-Corte Madera PTA, Cub Scout Den Leader, and a volunteer for the Red Cross. She loved to garden, take rides in the country, and read spy/murder mysteries. She had a flare for cooking with fresh seafood, vegetables and fruits. Canoeing the Russian River, sailing the San Francisco Bay, and tennis were youthful pastimes. Adult hobbies included playing dominoes, pinochle, and bridge. She was an ardent fan of the San Francisco Giants and '49ers, but transitioned to become a devout Mariners fan after moving to the Seattle-Bellevue area (Surrey Downs, Bellevue and Madison House, Kirkland). Lois always carried a warm smile and cared about everyone. She loved family, friends, and celebrations with good cuisine. Lois was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend to many. She will be deeply missed, but lives on in our hearts. Lois is survived by her son Dr. Eric O. Rasmussen, wife Janice Rasmussen and sons Marc and Scott of Bainbridge Island, WA; daughter Lynne Deal, husband John F. Deal and daughter Brittany and son J.J. of Yarrow Point, WA; sister Geraldine Shotts of Rohnert Park, CA; brother William A. Wolff of Los Gatos, CA; sister Beaulah Christal of San Bruno, CA; and sister Dorothy Ohlsen of Bellevue, WA. Lois joins beloved brother Harold Wolff, killed in a motor vehicle accident in 1989. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Lung Assoc., 2171 Junipero-Serra Blvd. #720, Daly City, CA 94014-1980 or the American Heart Assoc., 120 Montgomery Street #1650, San Francisco, CA 94104. Services will be held for Lois Rasmussen at Duggan's-Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City, CA 94014 (650) 756-4500 on Saturday, August 17th at 10:00 a.m.
