DIBBLE, Oliver III - March 25, 1926 to July 4, 2002. On July 4, 2002, Oliver Dibble III passed away at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho. He died of respiratory failure brought on by lung disease and lung cancer. Mr. Dibble was a resident of the Sun Valley, Idaho area for the last 37 years. Oliver Dibble III was born on March 25, 1926, in San Francisco, to Oliver Dibble Jr. and Isabelle Bishop Dibble. Both his parents descended from early California families. He grew up in Woodside and attended Midland School in Los Olivos, California. Oliver served in the US Army Air Force from 1944 to 1946 and graduated from San Jose State University in 1950 with a BS in Business. Before moving to Idaho in 1965, Oliver was a partner, with his father, in Dibble & Company Insurance Brokers. He also built and restored houses in San Francisco and Marin County. He married Marcia Elizabeth Robinson Dibble in 1955, and was widowed in 1961. When Oliver moved to Idaho, he worked as a general contractor. He also served with the Sun Valley Volunteer Fire Department. Not long after moving to Sun Valley, he met his future wife, Corby Dibble, and they married in 1968. His career followed the growth of Sun Valley, serving as the Administrator of the Sun Valley Planning and Zoning Board in the late 1960's and early 1970's, and as Fire Chief and Chief Building Inspector for the City until his retirement in 1991. Oliver held professional memberships in the Idaho Chapter of International Conference of Building Officials and International Association of Fire Chiefs. In addition, Oliver was an active participant in the Ketchum/Sun Valley Rotary Club, both before and after his retirement, and was a longtime member of Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church in Sun Valley. During Oliver's retirement, he rediscovered his love of fly-fishing, and traveled around the western states to his favorite fishing spots. An avid cook, he was often in the kitchen preparing gourmet meals to enjoy with friends. Oliver is survived by his wife of 34 years, Corby Dibble, a son and daughter, Oliver Dibble IV of Woodacre, California and Alexandra Dibble Pitts of Silver Spring, Maryland; and his stepson, Chris Puchner who resides in Fairbanks, Alaska. He is also survived by his brother, David Dibble of Oakland, California and sisters, Daphne Dibble Wilkins of Greenbrae, California, and Sarah Isabelle Dibble Kirby of Asheville, North Carolina and four grandchildren: Oliver Dibble V, and Rory, Ogden and Graham Pitts. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Luke's Wood River Hospital in Ketchum, Idaho. A memorial service will be held for Oliver on September 7, 2002, at Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church, Sun Valley.
