Roy Dotto Sr.
A life long Marin resident passed away on August 9, 2002 at the age of 91. Born in San Anselmo in 1911 in his home with the help of a midwife. He went to school in San Anselmo. Upon completing school, he went to work for Fairfax Lumber. In 1931, Roy left Fairfax Lumber to work for San Rafael Glass, where he worked as a glazier and then the Shop Superintendent until he retired in 1973. In February of 1931, Roy met his beloved Rena, whom he wed later that year and who would be at his side for the next 70 years and survives him. The most important part of Roy's life was his family. Roy's legacy includes his five children: Joan Farris, (Jim); Roy Dotto Jr., (Yvonne); Al Lamperti, (Judy), all of San Rafael, Dorothy Werner (Chris) of Windsor and the late Vic Lamperti. His family also includes 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, and still counting. Along with telling his grandchildren and great grandchildren stories, Roy enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing. Roy bagged his last buck at the age of 90. In retirement, Roy took up hobbies such as woodcarving, stained glass and gardening. He credited his longevity to staying active with all of his family and interests. Roy was very proud of his Italian heritage, his garden (in particular his tomatoes which were the best in town), and the fact that numerous family members have pursued and been successful in the glass business. He was a member of Club Italia. His parents, Daniel and Katherina Dotto, brothers Al and Louis, sisters Eva Baldini and Marie DiMastri, predeceased him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity. Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass Friday, August 16, 2002 at 10:30 AM at Saint Raphael's Catholic Church, San Rafael.
