Annette W. Girot
Passed away at age 88, April 8, 2002 in Walnut Creek. She was born in San Francisco where her ancestors settled shortly after the Gold Rush. She was raised in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Larkspur, having attended Larkspur-Corte Madera School in 1920-1925. She and her husband, the late Alfred Girot, Jr., built their home in Kentfield in 1946. After living in Marin County for more than 50 years, Mrs. Girot moved to Contra Costa County in 2000 to be near her family. Mrs. Girot was a homemaker, a talented crafts person, and a tireless community volunteer. She was a youth leader for 16 years and served on the boards of the Marin Region X and National Councils of Camp Fire Girls. She was a 25-year member of Sunny Hills Toy Booth Guild and a Braille transcriber. Mrs. Girot enjoyed making craft items and donated much of her work to local organizations. She was an avid world traveler. Mrs. Girot's daughter, Carol Smith of Alamo, and sons-in-law, Stan Smith of Alamo and Ed Parker of Pollock Pines, survive her. Mrs. Girot's grandchildren are Joanna Smith of Sacramento, Andrew and Leslie Smith of Rohnert Park, and Catherine Smith of Walnut Creek. She has two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, another daughter, Antoinette "Dee" Parker, predeceased her. A private Memorial Service will be held. The family prefers donations to Hospice of Marin, 150 Nellen Avenue, Corte Madera 94925, or to a favorite charity.
