Texas Rites Held For Ex-Marin Man
Funeral services were held yesterday in Bowie, Tex., for J. A. (Shortie) Evans, former Novato and Marin City resident, who died at a hospital in Bowie Sunday after an illness of several years. He was 58.
Evans, a retired maintenance worker, had moved to Bowie only three months ago with his wife, Neoma. They had been residents of 670 Olive avenue, Novato, for three years, having moved there from Marin City.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and three sons: Mrs. Victor Johnson, Novato; Raymond Evans, Salt Lake City; Keith Evans, Stockton, and James Evans, Sacramento, and nine grandchildren.
Evans was a native of Texas. He was an active member of the Church of Christ in Novato.
