W. B. SHEPHERD

William B. Shepherd, a retired teacher, died yesterday in his Sleepy Hollow home while convalescing from surgery. He was 84.

Shepherd was found dead in bed by his son, Morris, with whom he lived, according to the Marin County Coroner's Office.

Shepherd, of 4 Irving Drive, taught for about 30 years in rural schools in Texas, his native state. Later, he worked for 20 years for the Wrather Petroleum Co. in Kilgore, Tex., retiring in 1958 as office superintendent.

He lived most of his life in Texas, moving to Marin 11 years ago. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows.

Survivors, besides Morris Shepherd, are another son, William Jr. of Hemet, Riverside County and a brother, Robert of Kilgore, Tex.

Private graveside service will be tomorrow at Marin Memorial Gardens, Novato.
