Paul Robert LaCazette
Passed away April 28, 2002 and will be dearly missed. He was born New Year's Eve, 1922 in San Francisco and always professed, "When I celebrate my birthday, the world celebrates." He was a kind and gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humor. Even in his last hospital visit, he had to cover up his legs for fear that the nurses would stare at his "sexy legs." And his quick wit served him well in life as a young man in the Navy, a deputy sheriff, a restaurateur, and most importantly as a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. At 17 Paul joined the Navy and served in WWII with the "Mosquito Fleet." He was a Quartermaster on several PT boats in the South Pacific, the last one being the 550. After the war Paul settled back in San Francisco and worked as a deputy sheriff for the county of San Mateo, and later for Amador County where he met the love of his life, Edith. Ever the romantic, he married his lovely wife in 1970 at the Coco Palms Resort on Kauai. For the next 30 years they lived and worked together running Edith's family restaurant in Jackson. During this period, they commuted on their days off to their home in Belvedere and then Tiburon where Edith lives still. Paul was an expert boat handler and they spent many wonderful days on their beloved cruiser Domani both in the bay and the Sacrament delta, often visiting friends at the San Francisco, Delta, and Tiburon Yacht Clubs of which they were members. He was also a member of American Legion Post #313 of Larkspur. In addition to his loving wife, Paul is survived and will be fondly remembered by his extended and blended family, Diana LaCazette of Denver, Paul Jr. of Rhode Island, Robert and Lauren Pohler of Fairfax, John Nigra of Wellington, Nevada, Joseph Nigra of Pine Grove, CA, Vince Nigra of Wellington, Nevada, and his dearly loved granddaughter Samantha ("Sam you made the pants too long") Pohler of Seattle. At his request, no services will be held. A private gathering in remembrance of Papa has been held. We will miss you Papa and we will always celebrate your birthday!
