CARL P. MENDONCA
Carl P. Mendonca of Penngrove, a former Mill Valley resident, died Wednesday at his home after a lengthy illness. He was 61.
He was born in Ignacio and reared in Petaluma. After serving in the Marin Corps during World War II, he started a long diary career in 1947 in Napa.
Mr. Mendonca later moved to a dairy in Mill Valley and then to Penngrove in 1951 with another dairy. He retired from that business in 1972.
He later worked as a cattle dealer until ill health forced him to retire five years ago.
Mr. Mendonca was a member of the Petaluma Holy Ghost Society and Petaluma Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a retired member of the Penngrove Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dorothy L. Mendonca of Penngrove; three daughters, Carla Kelly of Petaluma, Patricia A. Mendonca and Bonnie J. Thompson, both of Penngrove; a son, Michael Mendonca of Penngrove; his mother, Isabel Pereira of Petaluma; a brother, Domingo Pereira of Petaluma; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
Burial will be at Cypress Hill Memorial Park in Petaluma. The family prefers that contributions be made to a favorite charity.
