JOSEPH NUNES
Petaluma – Joseph M. Nunes, 47, died in a hospital here yesterday after a brief illness.
Mr. Nunes, a native of Marin County, was educated in Gustine, and before World War II owned and operated a trucking firm there. He and his wife Elena came to Petaluma in 1940 and during the war Mr. Nunes operated a truck at the Mare Island naval shipyard.
After the war Mr. Nunes purchased a dairy farm at Bodega Bay, w hich he operated until 1955, when he sold it and returned to Petaluma to work as a truck driver.
His home was at 100 Glendon way.
He was the brother of Mrs. Mary Ferreira, Gustine.
He was a member of the IDES Council 10, the Holy Ghost Society Petaluma, and Teamsters’ Union Local 624.
Funeral services will be at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday from the chapel of the Sorensen Funeral Home in Petaluma with a mass at St. Vincent’s Church at 9 a.m.
Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
