Marin Pioneer Dies In South
John Guay, one of the oldest residents of Tomales and one of its most highly respected citizens, was laid to rest last Saturday after services held in the Church of the Assumption.
Death came to the deceased while on a visit to the home of his daughter, Mrs. G. M. Freeman, of Los Angeles, and the remains were shipped to Tomales to be buried beside the wife who preceded him by a number of years.
Mr. Guay was 77 years of age. Born in Canada in 1839, he came to California in early youth. After a few years spent in the mining counties, he settled in Tomales, where he had made his home since. He was married in 1876 to Miss Ellen Callon. He is survived by Mrs. Freeman and Charles Guay, daughter and son. A large number of sorrowing friends attended the funeral.
