Wayne Eric Bernhardy
Golden Gate Bridge worker
Wayne Eric Bernhardy of Petaluma died Friday, March 9, 1990, after a brief illness. He was 21.
Mr. Bernhardy was born in Novato.
He resided in Petaluma all of his life. He graduated from Petaluma High School, where he was a member of many clubs.
Mr. Bernhardy was employed by the Golden Gate Bridge District. He moved markers that divide lanes.
He was a member of the Petaluma Mens Bowling Association and was employed with the Golden Gate Bridge District.
He is survived by his parents, James and Violet Bernhardy of Petaluma; three brothers, Charles “Chuck” T. Bernhardy and Bruce Alan Bernhardy of Petaluma and George R. “Bob” Benda of Tonapah, Nev.; two sisters, Karen Lynne Bernhardy and Pamela Elizabeth Bernhardy, both of Petaluma; his financee, Shirley Carney of Petaluma; and his grandmothers, Fern Larson of Fairfax and Nellie Bernhardy of Mendocino.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Petaluma Christian Church.
His family asked that memorial contributions go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 2362 Coddingtown Center, Santa Rosa, 95401, or the Carousel Fund, 17 Buckeye Court, Petaluma, 94952.
Arrangements were by the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds information: he was the brother-in-law of Denise Bernhardy and Dorothea Benda, and uncle of Charles, Nicholas, Janice and Jennifer.
