Another Pioneer Has Passed Away
Mrs. John R. Davenport, another of San Rafael’s highly esteemed citizens, died on Monday, April 11th at a hospital in San Francisco. He had been in poor health for a long time, and general debility is given as the cause of his death. He was a native of England seventy-three years of age and leaves a widow and four children. He came to California in the fifties, and had been a resident of San Rafael for twenty-seven years. The remains were shipped to San Rafael care of Undertaker Eden and the funeral was held yesterday with interment at Mt. Tamalpais cemetery.
The members of the Carpenters and Joiners Union attended the funeral in a body. Mr. Davenport had been a member of the union for several years.
