‘DUKE’ MORRISON

Jesse ‘Duke’ Morrison of Tiburon, a star fullback for the University of California football team in the early 1920s, died Monday at a local hospital. He was 84.

Morrison was a leading player on the University’s “Wonder Team,” the name it bore during four undefeated seasons from 1920 to 1924.

At the time of his death, Morrison still held the Cal record for single season scoring with 104 points in 1920 and 131 points in 1922.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.
